From classrooms to courtrooms, interviews or interventions, offices and outdoors, interpreters are expected to conform to a variety of environments and situations with ease. In addition to needing business suits, steel-toed shoes, clear masks, and more, interpreters find themselves investing in webcams, dual monitors, ring lights, and professional backdrops. This 3-hour workshop is designed to challenge the level of analysis interpreters conduct when taking their first step on-site, or their first click of the mouse when joining an online session. Discussion will be influenced by the Role-Space Model as well as the Demand Control Schema, and active participation is expected based on the principles of Make It Stick. With a little bit of Pictionary and a sprinkle of Vanna White, participants discover how they can become a more adaptable interpreter. ASL only workshop. 0.35 PS CEUs available
